Project update – September 2009
Are you involved in projects relating to energy or the environment? Or perhaps you need to cover the writing of a large information project?...
If so, you may be interested to know about a project we worked on for the recently established DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Change).
Brought in by the COI (Central Office of Information) to help develop the content for www.decc.gov.uk, we had to combine all the relevant information from the Defra and BERR websites, rewrite it in plain English, restructure it, remove duplication, and add new content as necessary, to create one all-encompassing, clear, consistent site.
Editing around 800 web pages was a large enough task in itself. But we also managed the entire project from an editorial perspective - liaising with around 100 policy contacts to assess the content and ensure it was up to date and relevant, co-ordinating feedback, and loading all the copy onto DECC's content management system.
With just three months to complete the project, we created a team of seven to work on it. And despite the vast numbers of people needing to contribute to the content, we met the deadline - even after it was brought forward a week to tie in with the launch of the August Energy White Paper. Meanwhile, we continue to work with DECC, adding new content and updating the site as needed.
So, while 800 web pages may be unusually large, if you have a similar project, but don’t want to worry about the words - or want to find out a bit more about our public sector or environmental and CSR credentials - please get in touch.
