Project update – July 2003
Here's our latest update to let you know what's been going on at Writers. If there's anything here that particularly interests you - or is relevant to a project you may be working on – get in touch, and we’ll send you more information.
We also wanted to tell you about our new London office space. Given the amount of work we do in the capital, we decided to take some desk space there, which we can use in between meetings. This is now permanently manned by one of our team, Francoise Jeannon, who's recently returned from a sabbatical 'down under'.
Pitching in to win new business
We are always keen to work with our clients on pitches, and have recently helped several agencies win major new accounts. Our copywriting input has helped one of our clients become Vodafone's agency for internal communications, and another win the Portman Building Society account. We've also recently helped agencies win pitches with numerous Learning & Skills Councils, and Bayer's animal health division. In most cases, having helped win the pitch, we are now working on the live account. Please let us know if you'd like more details on how we can contribute to your new business efforts.
Crystal Marks for our plain English work
We also recently received recognition from the Plain English Campaign who have approved a number of our projects for their Crystal Mark. Among them, this year's annual report for Working Links - a public-private partnership between Jobcentre Plus, Manpower and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. The Campaign stated "The text is well written with short sentences and paragraphs. You keep the articles short, presenting facts concisely". Also that "the language is appropriate and using 'we', 'us' and 'our' makes the text more relevant", and that "the introduction is particularly good explaining the background and the idea behind [the publication]."
We also edited Vodafone's consumer Code of Practice and organised a Crystal Mark for it. The document provides a clear guide to Vodafone's customer services, complaints procedure and commitment to the environment.
CSR for Sky TV
We're building on our growing expertise in helping companies report on their social responsibilities, with BSkyB's latest corporate responsibility report, plus a magazine style review for their employees.
Working Links - 'refresh' literature and company magazine
As well as the annual report mentioned above, we've worked on several projects as part of the company's brand refresh. This includes new material aimed at both jobseekers and employers. We're also starting work on the next issue of their company magazine WL LIFE which follows on from the annual report.
Duo Airways - language guidelines and web copyDuo is a new European airline, specially designed for business travellers, with the emphasis on personal service. We developed tone of voice guidelines for the new brand, and then wrote most of the copy for their website.
