Sponsoring the Plain English Campaign awards

For a second year, Writers will be one of the main sponsors of the Plain English Campaign Awards, to be held in London in December. This well-known annual event always gets plentiful and well-deserved coverage in the national press, and on TV and radio, so if you can't be there in person, it's easy to find out who the winners are - along with some of the more amusing examples of jargon and 'corporate gobbledegook'.

Recent projects include:

Vodafone Business

Working alongside Vodafone's branding, advertising, literature, digital media, and website agencies, Writers acted as the central below the line copywriting resource for their new global business campaign 'Activate your Business'. We provided the words for a whole range of print and on-screen materials from design guidelines, interactive sales presenters and solutions brochures to data sheets, FAQs, case studies and their new business website. Such a large project required two full-time writer-managers and a team of five other writers.

Lloyds TSB

Wide-ranging promotional literature and direct mail to recruit customers and increase use of the company's successful and ever-improving Internet banking facilities. Also promotional copy, web copy and catalogues for the employee benefits scheme, and regular updates of literature to bring it in line with the new tone of voice.

BSkyB

One of the UK's most successful companies and a world leader in digital television. We help position Sky at a corporate level to many different audiences with recent work including the 40-page Sky Facts brochure.

BT

BT's offer to medium-sized corporates is a modular approach which can provide or manage all or parts of their Information and Communications Technology. We've written well-received brochures, direct mail and case studies to help promote this service.

Fujitsu Services

How do you motivate a European sales team? Create an incentive programme that rewards staff and their partners with luxury weekends to some of Europe's most beautiful cities. We researched and wrote the content for the EuroStars brochure, as well as the letter introducing the programme. We've also written the annual report for Fujitsu Services, and some press articles on key industry seminars.

Hiscox Insurance

Hiscox provides specialist insurance cover for high value homes and fine art. Writers wrote two brochures aimed at high net worth individuals, as well as a brochure targeting museum curators and art gallery directors.

Learning & Skills Council

A brochure for care homes, describing the national training standards they need to meet and how the LSC can help.

BUPA

Brochures for BUPA’s Back-up Childcare service aimed at businesses, letters about their Health Assessments for the general public, and posters publicising their Personal Best initiative to staff.

Business Link

Web copy for various services for Business West (the Bristol branch of Business Link) including Investors in People and the Apprenticeship programme.

Asda

In-store literature is a vital part of this retailer's communications, and we've recently completed 'A Taste of Italy' and 'A Taste of India' booklets, a series of recipe cards and a leaflet promoting National Breakfast Week.

NatWest

Having worked on 'tone of voice' and design guidelines for NatWest, we've also written a number of leaflets - both in-branch and direct mail.

Skoda

Tone of voice is an important part of this brand's recent reinvention, and we've written parts of the new website, including sections on the Octavia and Fabia.
