Project update – June 2005
Here's our latest update to let you know what's been going on at Writers. If anything here particularly interests you - or is relevant to a project you may be working on – get in touch, and we’ll send you more information.
Naming and straplines
We're often asked to develop brand or company names and straplines. Working as a team, we can tackle any brief from a range of perspectives, resulting in a broad spread of ideas. This approach works for many different types of projects - anything from lines embossed in the chocolate on Kit Kat fingers to sub-brand names for an international retailer's beer and milkshakes.
Mattel
Mattel makes toys and games such as Barbie, Polly Pocket and Scrabble. But it is other companies that make the related merchandise, like clothes, CDs and DVDs. We write the e-newsletter aimed at these companies, to encourage them to develop new products using the Mattel brands.
Comet
For the second year we've written Comet's Premier Collection catalogue. This includes their top-of-the-range products - everything from the latest plasma TVs, to high-end audio equipment and must-have kitchen gadgets.
Royal Veterinary College
Dating back to 1791, the Royal Veterinary College is still today a leader in teaching and research. We edited its new corporate plan, which outlines the College's strategy for the next three years.
ADCB
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank is one of the top banks in the United Arab Emirates. Its entire branch network is being transformed and rebranded. So too is all the bank's communication to its business, investment and retail customers. Our role has been to develop a contemporary tone of voice for ADCB, and apply it to all literature, mailings and online communications.
Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD)
For its 2006 prospectus, NSCD was looking for a fresh approach to the copy - to work with a radical redesign. We created a new tone of voice, balancing an enthusiasm for dance with a strong sense of professionalism.
Heal’s
Heal's wanted to update their Wedding & Gift List website and literature. They asked us to refresh all the copy on-screen and in print. This involved editing and rewriting some content to make it shorter, clearer and more engaging.
Lowther College
A private girls' school with a colourful history, Lowther College is the subject of an exhibition at its former home, Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales. We wrote all the text for the displays, including a 'timeline' spanning ten decades.
British Heart Foundation
We wrote a fundraising pack for the BHF's Help A Heart Week. This particular pack was aimed at raising awareness of the 1000 women who die each week from coronary and heart disease.
Wales Environment Trust
The Wales Environment Trust offers free consultancy to help businesses make more of their waste material, and so divert it from landfill sites. We wrote a brochure (printed on recycled paper), presenting the business benefits and opportunities available in this growing market.
