Project update – November 2007
Here’s a new update on some of our recent projects. Have a quick scan and if something catches your eye, just get in touch and ask for some more details, credentials or an idea of costs.
Before that though, we wanted to tell you about a new outsourcing arrangement we have with DSG (Dixons Stores Group). It means if PC World and Currys need any words – whether for a major campaign or one headline – they just get on the phone and we take it from there. If you think outsourcing like this could work for you, let us know.
Health
Our experience in this sector means we’re in great shape to help. BUPA is a case in point. We’ve completed nearly 90 projects since 2001, and most months, we’re writing brochures for at least one of their care homes. And just recently, we helped Spire Healthcare (a new company that’s taken over BUPA hospitals) to define their new tone of voice – and then rewrote the whole suite of BUPA brochures in the new style. And for the NHS, we’ve written a brochure aimed at GPs, about a new appointment system designed to cut waiting times.
Education
Most weeks it seems we’re working for at least one university. We’ve just written the Durham University undergraduate prospectus, and a brochure and website promoting the University of the West of England’s student placement programme. In secondary and further education, the awarding body OCR briefs us on a wide range of communications, covering A Levels, NVQs and OCR Nationals, and we’re currently involved in overhauling the web copy for Learn Direct’s business courses.
Transport
Education was also the focus for Transport for London recently. We wrote an advice and support pack, aimed at parents and their children transferring to secondary school. Other recent transport-related work includes editing a 200-page tender document for Network Rail, and restructuring and plain Englishing BAA’s online guide to airport security.
Environmental
Certainly the hot topic at the moment. We’ve been involved in sustainability reporting (both online and in print) for global insurance, asset management and banking giant Allianz. We’ve also been working on green projects for the likes of Centrica and Currys, as well as helping Tesco with their environmental messaging.
Following on from our Vodafone work through ten different agencies, in October we found ourselves doing Tesco work through four different ones – in one week! Projects involved promoting recycling machines, pack copy, in-store promotions and store development exhibitions, including one about Everton FC’s proposed new stadium.
With so much on at Writers Towers we’ve taken on two new bodies - Adam and George. Now we’re six full-time in-house writers, plus a pool of tried-and-tested freelancers. So if you’ve got a project, we’ve got the capacity.
