Project update – September 2008

The international issue

Here’s some news on what we’ve been up to since January, plus some other new developments.

Now we’ve been in business for seven years, we thought it about time we updated our website. We think our redesign explains our services more comprehensively than before - to find out more, wander along to www.writers.uk.net

Talking business? Then speak in English.

Judging by the amount of work we’re getting from overseas, we’re pleased to report that English still seems to be the global language of business. We’ve recently written the annual report for Russian fertiliser giant UralKali and helped with the report for steel and mining company Severstal. We’ve also helped Russian investment bank Renaissance Group get their careers website off the ground.

Other overseas clients who’ve needed their comms written in English include Japan Tobacco International, the world’s third largest tobacco company, RTL Group, the TV broadcasting and production giant, RTL Radio, their French radio group, ethical Dutch bank, Triodos and international shopping centre developers Sonae Sierra. And when it comes to more leisurely activities, we’ve been writing for the Tiger Woods Golf Resort in Dubai and for a luxury apartment block marketed under the Tonino Lamborghini brand, also in Dubai.

Continuing the international theme, we’ve completed two high profile brochures for Think London - to encourage Chinese companies to look to London to fufil their globalisation plans. Plus, we’ve also helped the European Patent Office develop its vision and mission statements.

Where the bloody hell are you? Er, in Sydney as it happens.

That’s right. Sara Howard has returned home to open an office for us in Sydney – and Writers Australia is already servicing some of the leading names down under. The work is as diverse as it is here and we’ve helped, among others, Australia Post, 1Cover, University of Sydney, Lend Lease, Jones Lang LaSalle, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and various professional services firms get their message across.

About 10,000 miles closer to home, we’ve been involved in a range of projects for all sorts of companies. Graduate recruitment campaigns abound this time of year which has meant ads, brochures and websites for the Royal Bank of Scotland, Ernst & Young, BT, BNP Paribas and Renaissance Group. Other online projects include web work for Citroen UK, Ginsters, TNT and Diva, a new motor insurance service for women from Swinton Insurance.

And in other news…

We’ve written over 100 intranet articles for BBC’s research department, and continued our service arrangement with DSG International Group to create the "How to choose..." POS boards for Curry's stores, as well as a range of communications for their Dixons Tax Free brand.

The above provides a snapshot of just some of the things we’ve been up to, so if you have a project which needs writing, editing, critiquing or talking about, please get in touch.
